Dear Editor

Dear Editor is hosted by Victoria (Vicki) and Michelle (Mica), two sisters who share a voracious appetite for reading and knowledge. Vicki and Mica strive to connect fiction and nonfiction, reading and writing, in a blur of relevance to our lives today. What makes a book stick in your memory? Can what you read shape how you view the world? How does a writer achieve that moment of brilliance, that tug on your emotion or your intellect that makes for an unforgettable experience? Delve into a podcast of literary analysis and unabashed philosophical wanderings with two avid Christian readers.

Michelle (Mica) - Mica enjoys speculative fiction ranging from printed classics to short story podcasts.  Her favorite novel-length authors include Steven R. Donaldson, Ursula K Le Guin, Dan Simmons, and C.S. Lewis.  She enjoys stories that have psychological/emotional or moral implications and challenges amidst a dash of magic or unfathomable technologies.  Her first introduction to fantasy was the Narnia Chronicles, while her first introduction to science fiction was the original Star Trek series.  She also enjoys certain anime, many visual arts and crafts,  roleplaying and writing.  Michelle just graduated with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Spanish.  She is fascinated by linguistic anthropology, the libertarian movement, and the ramifications of government interference in concentrated-poverty neighborhoods.  She likes kittens but despises litter boxes, loves Austrian shepards but hates how much they shed, and wants to move out of the city.

Victoria (Vicki) - Vicki enjoys nonfiction works ranging from statistics filled research books to metaphorical ramblings on Artificial Intelligence.  She dislikes self help books and her favorite nonfiction author is Douglas Hofstadter, although she can’t really pronounce his name. She also likes some fantasy, especially comedic fantasy, and thus her favorite fiction author is Terry Pratchett.  She recently had foot surgery but is recovering well.  Vicki practically lives on the computer whenever she’s not reading, and knows far too many computer languages for her own good. She is working towards a Communications major with an English minor and her current favorite class is Science Fiction. She often offers to edit people’s stories for them and has the editing style of an English professor.

Why Podcasting? -  Vicki and Mica were introduced to podcasting by Nuri, who started the Artist Alley podcast and introduced Mica to EscapePod and Christiana Ellis of Nina Kimberly the Merciless.
